Hong Kong’s first “Climate Change Framework for Built Environment” is finally published! A huge congratulations to the Hong Kong Green Building Council on the successful launch of this industry-leading guideline! Ms. Grace Kwok, Chairman and Executive Director of AEC Group, and Mr. Dennis Wu, our Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, felt incredibly honored to support HKGBC and celebrate this milestone achievement at the launching ceremony last week, alongside our Associate Director Mr. Ir Frank Cheung, as well as Ms. Kim Perreard and Ms. Shannon Xiang (Jie Xiang) from our ESG Team.
AEC Group is excited to see what monumental contributions this ClimateChangeFramework will bring to the building sector in Hong Kong. Ir Dr Cary CHAN, JP, Executive Director of Hong Kong Green Building Council mentioned that this Framework will serve as a toolbox to lead and align the building industry in Hong Kong relating to carbon neutrality and climate risks management, offering comprehensive tools and certification schemes to facilitate the building sector to benchmark their carbon and energy performance.
Grace is the convenor leading the development of the Chapters on Physical Climate Risk Assessment and Climate Adaption and Resilience. She was delighted to speak at the panel discussion hosted by Ir Dr. Bruce CHONG, Director of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited, alongside Prof. Jack CHENG, Associate Head and Professor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Ir Dr. Raymond YAU, General Manager of Technical Services & Sustainable Development from Swire Properties Limited, to share her insights on mainstreaming climate risk assessment, adaption and resilience, urging all sectors to work together to enable the built environment become a solution to build resilience in this changing climate.
