The highly anticipated 2023 GRESB Regional Insights: Hong Kong event, co-organized by AEC Group and Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), and co-hosted by 大灣區碳中和協會 GBA Carbon Neutrality Association, was successfully held on November 23, 2023 at Dream Impact / ESG Innovation Lab.The highlight of the event was the GRESB Sector Leaders Award Ceremony, where two MAJOR awards were presented. The Global & Regional Sector Leaders Award was presented to Henderson Land Development Company Limited, Hongkong Land Limited, and Swire Properties; whereas the Regional Sector Leaders Award was presented to Invesco Real Estate Investment (Asia) LLC. Congratulations to all the winners!
This year the event had a great turnout of around one hundred participants, including esteemed ESG leaders from HK and the region. It was our pleasure to have Mr. Eli Konvitz, HK Vice Chair of Urban Land Institute, Dr. Rocky Tung, Director & Head of Policy Research of Financial Services Development Council, and Ms Dorothy Lam, Co-Founder and Chief Catalyst of Dream Impact to be our guest speakers for the event. For the panel discussion session, we were also delighted to be joined by Ms. Jenny Cheung, Head of Sustainability and Director of Investor Relations of Phoenix Property Investors, Ms. Melanie Kwok, Assistant General Manager (Sustainability) of Sino Land, Mr. Patrick Ho, Deputy Head of Sustainable Development of Swire Properties Limited, Mr. Johnny Yu, Head of Sustainability of Henderson Land Development Company Limited and Mr. Mac Leung, Director of Sustainable Finance of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. The guests shared their experiences in participating in GRESB and the difficulties they faced during the process of achieving the benchmarks, as well as their unique professional insights into market trends and the direction of sustainable development.
Mr. Trey Archer, Asia Director of Business Development of GRESB, and Ms. Pooja Changani, Manager, Member Relations Asia-Pacific of GRESB expressed that learning more about the region’s ESG concerns can help them further develop the benchmark to support the advancement of green financing. Ms. Grace Kwok, Chairman and Executive Director of AEC Group and, Mr Dennis Wu, CEO and Executive Director of AEC Group expressed their gratitude for GRESB's initiative in co-organizing the Event to let AEC act as a bridge between environmental protection and green financing.
